Honestly I can’t believe it’s now 2012!

Where did 2011 go?

Although 2011 was a great year in all aspects, I still feel that I could have done more with my online business. Don’t get me wrong, I accomplished a lot in my business and it was the most profitable year to date.

So in that aspect I’m very happy, however I know I could have done more, helped more people and made more money.

It all comes down to organization and planning. I didn’t do enough of either in 2011.

Ironically, I haven’t really worked on the business for the past 3 weeks, and thus haven’t completed my goals for 2012.

You don’t have to say it, I know. My goals should have been completed by mid-December at the latest. Most successful Online Marketers already had them done.

My philosophy is better late than never.

It wasn’t like I was working without a rudder on my boat. I wasn’t working! :-) My mom came in from North Carolina and My wife’s parents came in from West Texas. So I relaxed and enjoyed the Holidays with everybody.

So without further ado, I’m going to share with you the changes I’m making in my business so it is more profitable and more importantly, so I can feel like I’m helping more people achieve their goals.

Here’s what I’m doing to make 2012 amazing for my business….

First and foremost, I’m getting organized and setting & documenting my goals. Normally I have a hard time following through and following up with my goals but this year I’m going to use the following service called Flow. I can use flow on my MAC (or PC), on my iPhone and on my iPad. This will be helpful for me because I will always have access to my goals and task no matter where I am.

The key is to identify your goals and write them down. I didn’t do this in the past effectively.

I did an inventory of all of my expenditures and identified only the essentials expenses I needed to grow my business. One thing I discovered was that I had multiple hosting accounts with multiple add-on domains. It was becoming incredibly difficult to manage. So I signed up for a resellers account with Host Gator a couple of days ago and now I am in the process on moving all of my most important domains and websites. I even have 3 customers already. One more and my entire hosting bill is paid for. In doing this, not only will all of my sites be on a trusted hosting service but I will save approximately $1500 a year doing this. Can you say delicious?

Do a better job documenting my income and expenses. :-) This is coming from a guy that never balances his checkbook – crazy right, but it works for me. I use Quickbooks for MAC and at the end of the year I update it and send over the files to my CPA. If you asked me during the year what my profit or loses were, I couldn’t tell you. I always hated not being organized enough to know. So come hell or high water this year, I’m going to know.

This is an extension of the one above and I want to know by project (site) how I am doing. As a result, I put together a complete spreadsheet and update it on an ongoing basis. For expenses that I use for the entire business on all of projects I will just allocate my cost and revenue!

This is going to require me to track everything. I absolutely suck in this area. It is amazing that I am successful quite honestly! :-) This is one of my biggest areas of opportunity. So I will put mechanisms in place so I know what is working, what is making money and therefore I’ll discover earlier what is not working and so I can stop wasting time.

I’ll do a better job at helping others. I’ve discovered that many of my friends and family would enjoy the lifestyle I’m living, therefore, I will spend more time explaining what I am doing. BTW this includes you if you’re a subscriber. So subscriber today. You can do this several ways: RSS To Email, RSS Feed, Liking my Fan Page or simply subscribe to may mailing list (upper right hand corner.)

Make better use of Mind Mapping software! There are so many great apps for both MAC and PC (some are free) and the power of using this to help get organized and develop ideas is just a smart way to go. I actually mind mapped all of my domains and hosting for the project I mentioned above, where I am migrating all of my hosting to my Host Gator account

I know I probably missed a lot of things I still need to do but the list above is a good start.

The key is to make continuous progress towards your goals. As long as you’re making forward progress, then it is all good. Hopefully this list helps you with your business.

Leave a comment if you think of something else I missed or if you have an opinion about this post! :-)

Do you have a clear vision of what you want? Knowing what your target focus is will help you make better decision and better decision lead to better outcomes. Indentifying your mission statement can be your first step in the right direction.

So whether you want multiple streams of income or a way to achieve your financial goals (wealth package) you must identify your target and focus on that.

Below, you’ll find more details about this concept:

Choices and Consequences
By Sean Caruthers

Life is all about choices. Some choices may be simple like what to eat for dinner tonight. Other choices may be more complex like should I marry him or her. Some people believe we are the sum total of the choices we make in life. However, I recognize that chance and opportunity happens to them all. One thing is certain; we don’t always make good choices. And we should strive to make better choices in life.

I had an economics teacher in college. He liked to say that most economic choices have pros, cons, and consequences. I believe he was onto something by mentioning consequences. We would make better choices if we considered the consequences.

What are consequences? Consequences are the results of the choices we make. As school children, we are made to believe consequences are negative. And by the time you start college your reflex is to associate "a consequence" with a negative outcome. As a matter of fact, consequences can be positive or negative. Likewise consequences may have a short or long term impact on us.

In most cases, deciding to continue your education is a good choice. So, what are some of the possible consequences of this choice? Possible consequences may be higher income over the course of your career, greater job opportunities, sacrificing leisure time to study, incurring the high cost of college, and or dealing with the stress of school and work. As you can see, the consequences listed can be view as positive and negative with short and long term impact.

Three years ago, I completed graduate school. I have experienced all of the aforementioned consequences of choosing to continue my education. The negative and short term consequences were sacrificing leisure time to study and dealing with the stress of school and work. The negative and long term consequence is paying off a sizable student loan due to the high cost of college. However, the positive and long term consequence has been greater job opportunities and higher income.

So, how can consequences help us make better choices? If you know what consequences (results and or outcomes) you want then you almost automatically make better choices. Quite naturally, I don’t enjoy paying a sizable student loan with a long term. So, if I had considered the consequences of student loan debt then I would have borrowed less, paid out of pocket, and or attended a less expensive school.

You can see how considering the consequences can help you make better choices. You will discover that most choices have many consequences. So, my advice would be to make out a list with all possible consequences for a choice. After you complete the list, rate each consequence based on most to least tolerable. From here you should be able to make a good choice or at least one you can live with. Remember choices have real consequences.
