Today Was a Good Day

Sometimes things just seem to fall into place. Today was one of those days!

I woke up late….hehe. Ok, my job allows for that but honestly I really prefer to get up early and get THINGs accomplished. There is no greater feeling than accomplishing 1/2 of what you want to accomplish for the day by 8:30. Too me that is just a great feeling.

Ok, so I didn't have that this morning.

But I did have several key projects that I have been working hard on for the past couple of weeks begin to pay dividends. So, that was very cool.

While I was on the phone with my wife discussing if I was going to cancel soccer practice for my daughters team, the doorbell rang. The dogs went nuts, and I was a little worried that the Fedex guy was going to get tasted by one of my red heelers (they have become somewhat territorial since I installed an electric fence.)

I also received a call from a former employee, turned friend regarding several positions open at his company. He has been promoting my skills to his Sr. Leadership team. Hopefully something positive happens.

More than anything, I was happy that he called to let me know about this. Not because of the job opportunities but more so because he thought of me.

Over the years I have made it a practice to help as many people as I can. And most of the time that means getting them in to see the right people when they are looking for a job. In fact, I have been the one that has gotten them the job so many times. So, it is just nice when people remember that.

On the other hand, how about the ones that you do nice things for and then don't ever help you. I've experienced that as well. Not sure why people are like that but I guess I can't worry about them. I once heard it said that you can only change yourself.

But I digress!

I am leaving for a call center site visit tomorrow so I had to get my stuff together. This required me to run back into town and pick up the laundry (30 minute drive one way.) I live in the country and love it but on occasion have to deal with longer than average drives.
